A Major Achievement: Eight Teams Compete for the Cup at Kibbutz Amir
The 2024/25 Women’s State Cup tournament concluded with an impressive victory for the Galil Elyon Bees, who secured the championship for the third consecutive year, ensuring the cup remains in the north. The final tournament featured eight teams from across Israel, including two from Jerusalem, Rishon LeZion, Maccabi Amazons Tel Aviv (last year’s champions), Hadarim, Haifa, Galil, and Golan. The tournament took place at Kibbutz Amir on Saturday, May 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A special thank you to Yaniv Gerti, club manager, the dedicated staff, and of course the excellent referees — Sean Kantor and Ariel Cabral.
“This Is How You Start a Weekend!”
Yaniv Gerti, manager of the Galil Elyon Rugby Club, reflected on the season with an emotional post: “This is how you kick off the weekend — winning the State Cup tournament and keeping the trophy in the Galil for the third year in a row! This was the toughest season in my 13 years in this role. A year marked by war, evacuations, injuries and more — but it ended with a very sweet taste!!! Huge credit to Naama Badihi, our coach, and Sarah Hadad, our team manager, and a big thank you to all the players for their heart, soul, and unwavering spirit. Despite the many challenges, you remained a united force and a fantastic rugby team!”
Season’s End – Eyes on the Future
As the season comes to a close, we wish to thank all the teams for their dedication and participation throughout the year and in the final tournament. While this season has ended, the journey continues — the coming months will be focused on improving skills, strengthening players, and raising the level of play in preparation for what promises to be an even more exciting and competitive season ahead. Women’s rugby in Israel continues to grow steadily, and we look forward with great anticipation to the continued rise of the game.
