A Promising Future for Israeli Rugby | Bronze Medal at the U18 European Championship!

Israel’s U18 team returned from Budapest this morning after clinching third place at the European Rugby Championship U18 Boys Sevens Trophy 1 2025 – a remarkable achievement reflecting professionalism, fighting spirit, commitment, and belief in their journey.

On their way to the podium, the team faced strong opposition from Sweden, Andorra, Croatia, Turkey, and Ukraine, overcoming considerable challenges, including uncertainty about participation due to the security situation at home.

Head coach Tomas Berman guided the squad confidently and wisely, and his players responded magnificently on the pitch, demonstrating incredible determination in an emotional victory during the bronze medal match.

Israel Rugby’s Director of Rugby, Kevin Musikanth:

“I am super proud of the performance of the U18 team. Playing against big countries and achieving a credible 3rd place despite numerous obstacles speaks volumes about this very young team. Until the very last moment, the team didn’t know if they’d be able to travel due to the war. Tomas Berman stepped in as head coach and managed the squad brilliantly. It was fantastic having strong parental support, making the team feel like one big family. After the initial disappointment of narrowly losing the semi-final to eventual winners Ukraine, the boys lifted themselves and fought valiantly until the final whistle, with co-captain Noam Peled scoring the winning try after the hooter to secure victory against a robust Swedish side. Hats off to Tamir Blass for his excellent management and Alita Mor for keeping our boys match-ready. There’s tremendous potential in this young squad, with more than half eligible to compete again next year. The future looks exceptionally bright, and I predict this group will be playing in the championship very soon.”

Chairman of the Professional Committee, Maor Goffer:

“It fills the heart with pride to watch these remarkable young men fighting for every ball and giving their all on the pitch.

Winning the bronze medal is the result of hard work, dedication, and passion – not just from the players but also from the coaching and professional staff, who overcame numerous challenges to achieve this result.

Huge thanks to the parents who travel, support, and attend matches all across Europe – your presence is meaningful and essential.

This achievement clearly shows that the future of Israeli rugby is in good hands and on the right path. Al Al Israel!”

👏 Thanks to all the players for unforgettable rugby moments and this fantastic achievement. Thanks to Tomas Berman for his leadership and professionalism, Director of Rugby Kevin Musikanth, physiotherapist Alita Mor, Chairman of the Professional Committee Maor Goffer, the parents, and the dedicated management by the outstanding Tamir Blass – this victory is thanks to your incredible effort and commitment.

The future of Israeli rugby is here – full of hope, talent, and national pride 🇮🇱⁩⁩⁩
